A hydrocyclone is a device used for the classification of sub sieve materials typically below 200 microns. The material is fed into the feed chamber at pressure, using a centrifugal pump. The centrifugal pump is paired with a cyclone to ensure optimal feed rate for the cyclone to perform efficiently.
NEW TECHNOLOGY for HYDROCYCLONE FEED APPLICATIONS In 2008, Pemo upgraded the AUS series Vertical pumps to include larger and higher output models. These new models were promoted to many existing customers and were then tested verses a number of horizontal pumps that traditionally have been used to feed Hydrocyclones.
Cyclone Feed Pumps. Schurco Slurry pumps are excellent solutions for a wide variety of applications where solids are moved via hydrotransport. One very common application for slurry pumps is feeding a hydrocyclone or separator, both of which centrifugally separate heavier media from lighter media.
The vertical froth pumps utilize the same principle as hydrocyclone separation where air is separated from the slurry in a vortex created by the impeller rotation and the tangential inlet to the pumps conical sump. This results in more efficient pumping at higher capacities and a smooth operation, free from pulsations caused by air locking.
